From Nut, To Artisan, To You

Our unique and sustainable jewellery is made from tagua, a palm tree seed that grows in the forests of Ecuador, South America.

Known as "vegetable ivory" tagua offers a vegan alternative to elephant ivory. It's beautiful to the touch, takes a high polish, and absorbs vegetable dyes easily.

A true gift from nature!

What Our Customers Say

How often does one receive a parcel in the post that you put off opening? This morning it was me.

The wrapping, the writing and even the sticker said it all. Someone had given this considerable thought and that was before I looked at the contents.

Thank you Happy Elephant, thank you and thank you.

What a treat!

Tagua has a soft, light, natural feel on the skin. I get so many compliments when I wear it. I am so excited to find the Happy Elephant! I will be a regular customer.

Leah M

I love that it is lightweight and the colours complement beautifully!  I like that it's made from Earth's natural materials and that each piece is unique.

Diane P

I love my Tagua necklace. It is adjustable so I can make it longer or shorter, depending on what I'm wearing. It really is fun to wear. It makes wearing a necklace a happy day because I see so many smiles.

About Us

Our Story

Paddington left South America for Britain.  We did it the other way around!  In 2015 we left Britain to live in Ecuador, South America.

We are Alison, my husband Mark and our children Bethan & Euan Williams - an ordinary family who decided to do something a little out of the ordinary.  We wanted an adventure, to see new places, meet new people and learn a new language. So we moved to Ecuador and learned Spanish. We enjoyed being involved in a voluntary work and made many lifelong friends.

While in Ecuador I fell in love with tagua nut jewellery - I loved its beautiful colours, feel and fascinating story . I would bring it as gifts for family and friends on visits back to the UK. When we moved back in 2020 we decided to share a slice of Ecuador with you - in the form of tagua nut jewellery! It's great to see others love it just as much as I do. And no wonder as it really is a gift from nature!
