Our First Anniversary of Market Trading
So, on 6th November 2022 we celebrated our 1st Anniversary of trading at markets and events with The Happy Elephant. We had previously been selling our tagua nut jewellery online, having set up our website during the pandemic. It was hard to get ourselves known, so we decided we would take tagua nut jewellery to you! So, we asked if we could have a stall at our own local market here in Buckingham and the market manager was very accommodating. We started out with such little knowledge and not even owning a gazebo or tables! We borrowed tables from our good friends at Spotless Garments and hoped it wouldn’t rain! I think the other market traders thought we were mad, and maybe they were right!
But from those small beginnings, we have learned so much thanks to everyone around us – our lovely customers, fellow market traders and market managers! And we also learned that tagua nut jewellery was a big hit – beautiful sustainable jewellery with a story behind it! It didn't take us long to get our own tables and gazebo!
In our first year we have been able to trade in some beautiful places and exciting events like Chiswick House and Gardens, the Duck Pond Market in Chalfont St Giles, the Bucks County Show and recently outside John Lewis in Milton Keynes at the MK Handmade & Vintage Fair.
